Recycled Shoes

Shoes made out of recycled plastic? Nowadays, as sustainability is becoming an ever more trending topic, companies are starting to take notice. Companies such as Adidas and Converse are producing products that are environmentally friendly by using plastic recovered from the ocean. Adidas has collaborated with Parley for the Oceans, which is an organization that addresses environmental threats towards the ocean through plastic pollution. The company recreated their famous UltraBoost shoe, and new versions of shoes. The collection uses materials from 11 plastic recycled bottles per pair. Converse also steps in by redesigning their iconic Chuck Taylor All Star shoe as the Renew Canvas which is 100% recycled polyester that came from used plastic bottles. Besides recycled plastic bottles, Converse has created a series of up-cycled denim shoes, which they partnered with Beyond Retro. Two pairs of Renew Denim Chuck Taylors can be made out of a single pair of “post-consumer” jeans. This goes to show that sustainability can go a long way towards the production of fashion and trends.
