Mayor Diaz, Savior?

This was an entry for the three day competition of Urban Landscape Week 2016 held by Polis at TU Delft. The competition was to envision what will happen to the imaginary city of Salcur in the events of a major scenario happening. Our team's scenario in this case was what would happen if virtual reality took over. What will happen to the outside world? How will the infrastructure of the city change?

Our vision is that outside world is forgotten by the city, especially because people with wealth and power prefer staying indoors. But, as a major disaster happened in 2061, the virtual reality got cut off for a moment, and the people start going to the outside world. This makes a realization, that the plan of Mayor Diaz to bring back the public spaces and disaster protection to the city through the up-cycling of abandoned office buildings, and under used roadworks. These spaces open up due to the small amount of space needed in the world that is now connected to the virtual world.
